Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing an attorney is much like deciding on a doctor. It is one of the most important decisions a person may make in their lifetime. The things you should look are: How much experience does this lawyer have? Is he an expert or specialist in his field? Has he handled cases like mine before? Has he been successful in handling cases like mine before? Does he have extensive trial experience? Does the law firm do a volume business?
The following are those questions that are frequently asked.
1. Do you charge for the initial consultation?
The Wannamaker Law Firm does not charge for the initial consultation.
2. How long have you been in the practice of law?
Mr. Wannamaker has been licensed to practice law since 1984.
3. Are you a board certified criminal law specialist?
Yes. Mr. Wannamaker received his specialization certification in 1993 in the field of criminal law and criminal appellate law in 2008.
4. Have you ever handled a case like mine?
At the law firm, we have successfully handled every conceivable criminal case, both in federal and state court.
5. What trial experience do you have?
Mr. Wannamaker has one of the most extensive trial records around. He has been a trial lawyer for over 34 years and in that time has tried numerous state and federal cases.
6. Do you provide a written contract?
Yes. A written contract is required and protects both the client and attorney. It sets out what can be expected of the attorney and what obligations the client has in the relationship.
7. What type of fee arrangements do you require?
Typically a criminal fee is a fixed fee retainer. In complex cases, a retainer can be negotiated and an hourly rate charged. A legal fee is determined by the seriousness and complexity of each case.
8. Do you take payments?
Yes. Legal representation can be costly and should not prevent a person from getting the representation they deserve.
9. What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, cashier checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Network. We do not accept personal checks.
10. Will you be available to discuss my case?
We are available to our clients during business hours. Office consultations must be scheduled in advance and telephone calls will be returned promptly. We believe in keeping our clients well informed about their cases.
11. Will you handle my case personally?
Yes. We believe in quality over quantity and keep the number of cases low so that we may provide the individual attention you deserve. You will never become just a number to us.
