Embezzlement occurs when someone who has been entrusted with money or property appropriates it for personal use. Usually the person accused of this crime is a financial manager or an accountant. It may also include a sales clerk who has a cash drawer.

Theft is the taking of another person’s property illegally without that person’s consent. This is a very serious charge. A conviction of theft can prevent you from gaining employment as well as adversely affect other areas of your life.
